House update week 4

I am late in my posting this week, as nothing happened at all last week on site. The house builders have gone off site so the pool people can come in and dig the pool. Unfortunately they have been unable to get there until today. So here is my update for this week:

So there they are the latest pictures, the pool from different angles. By the end of the week the concrete will be in and the pool cover will go over it until the house is finished then the pool people will come back and finish the pool off. Hopefully the retaining wall man will be doing his thing in the next day or 2. Until my next update have a great week!!

To market to market

This morning Ballerina and myself decided to take a drive to our local produce market. I haven't been to a market for ages, always forgoing fresh produce for the convenience of the supermarket. Well after one visit this morning I am a convert back to the market. The aromas of fresh produce, breads, cakes, flowers, plants and needless to say the money I saved and the wonderful tastes (yes we couldn't wait too long - the sweet watermelon and the little cakes mmmm) has won me back over. So every Sunday morning we shall be making the trek to the market for our fresh fruit and vegies.

Watermelon, sweet corn, strawberries, cakes and flowers!

I didn't get too much as I had done a shop at the local supermarket on Friday, but next week....well I can't wait.

These little cakes looked very cute and Ballerina tells me taste delightful - there were six when we got in the car and only five when we reached home!!!

And beautiful Gerberas one of my most favourite flowers. The gorgeous colours, how can anyone resist!

Enjoy your day.

Photo Hunters #2 - Silver

This weeks theme is Silver.

Our SILVER (slightly tarnished) cutlery which my Grandmother gave to us as a wedding gift almost 21 years ago. It is a 64 piece set and for years we didn't use it, but then decided it was too beautiful to keep hidden away in a box.

So it is the cutlery we use everyday now, whether we are having a barbecue or a gourmet meal!!

Thirteen Things about Australia

1. Australia has been inhabited for more than 42,000 years by Indigenous Australians. However, in 1770, James Cook sailed along and mapped the east coast of Australia, which he named New South Wales and claimed for Britain. The expedition's discoveries provided impetus for the establishment of a penal colony there.

2. The British Crown Colony of New South Wales started with the establishment of a settlement at Port Jackson by Captain Arthur Phillip on 26 January 1788. This date was later to become Australia's national day, Australia Day.

3. Our flag -

4. Our Coat of Arms -

5. Our Capitial City is Canberra.

6. Our population - 20,264,082 (July 2006 est.)

7. Our National Anthem is Advance Australia Fair.

8. We remember our heroes on ANZAC Day

9. We are a culturally diverse society

10. Our currency is the Australian dollar.

11. We are a great sporting nation - swimming, cricket, rugby league, rugby union, netball, basketball etc etc.

12. We love being outdoors -

13. We are the lucky country!! And I am proud to be an Australian!!!

I love a sunburnt country,
A land of sweeping plains,
Of ragged mountain ranges,
Of drought and flooding rains,
I love her far horizons,
I love her jewel sea,
Her beauty and her terror -
The wide brown land for me.

Happy Australia Day

House update week 3

Well the concrete slab has now been poured (today actually). The shape of the house is beginning to be seen:

Looking from the front of the house into what will be our garage - double garage with extra storage space (or a bar room for nito!!)

This one is taken from where a bedroom will be looking out over where the pool will be - note nito inspecting the pool area!!

This shot is the reverse of the above - looking from the pool area into the bedrooms and family room.

This shot is from the pool looking towards the front of the house.

We are hoping that in the next week or 2 the pool will be dug, retaining walls will be put in (around the pool area) and then the frame will commence. Yippee!!!

Enjoy your week!

What a spectacular sight that was. And even though it's not my photo - that is exactly how it looked!! Currently the comet can mainly be seen in the Southern Hemisphere. It really was a great night.

So we have these white pipes sticking out of the ground, to do with plumbing and electricity I think. It's very exciting!!!

Happy Birthday Jeff!!

To a great brother. Have a wonderful day!! Won't be too long before we see you. And remember:
Birthdays are good for you. Statistics show that the people who have the most live the longest.

Some Homer stuff:

Marge: Homer, the plant called. They said if you don't show up tomorrow don't bother showing up on Monday.
Homer: Woo-hoo. Four-day weekend.

Homer: Weaseling out of things is important to learn. It's what separates us from the animals ... except the weasel.

Bart: Dad, what's a Muppet?
Homer: Well, it's not quite a mop, not quite a puppet, but man... (laughs, then pauses) So, to answer you question, I don't know.
