Photo Hunters #5 - Antique
Nito (hubby) bought these Japanese pictures through a deceased estate a few years back in Kuranda. The actual pictures date back to the early 1900's and are made of Mother of Pearl. There is an order and story with the 4 pictures, but unfortunately we are not aware of it.
It is slightly difficult to see, but there are 2 people in the picture - to me it is either husband and wife, or father and daughter.
We do not have them hanging at the moment, but in our new home they will be up on the walls!!
Happy Weekend.

Those are really cool. I love the Mother of Pearl.
If I'm not mistaken, this depicts the four seasons of their country.
Cheers!
They're beautiful. I have a set very similar- only they are only three panels with the center panel being larger- and, they aren't antique.
Mine's up.
What beautiful pictures. I love items that have a history behind them. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!
They are beautiful, I love all this type of thing.
Beautiful! Absolutely stunning!
These will look great on the wall. I love the intricate nature of the inlay. Beautiful.
Those are lovely! Quite the find!
Mine's up too :)
I found myself making up my own order and stories, I would love to know the story intended, though. Glad you posted them.
I've been seeing more and more Japanese antiques on Antiques Roadshow. They are so fascinating and artistic items. They will be beautiful in your new home!
Those are awesome! I love oriental decors. I remember all the dolls for girls day that I once had when I was very young. I wish I still had them, but I don't know what my Mom did with them. Through all the moves we made, I just don't know.
I see you're going to Disneyland at the end of the year. I am meeting my family in Los Angeles in April and we are taking my grandchildren there. To celebrate all their birthdays at a character breakfast. Then I go back to Hawai'i with them.
thanks for stopping by.
Aren't those just MAGNIFICENT? WOW! I loooooove them! I do think it would be fun to decorate a room (or a house) in an oriental style. My hubby doesn't care for the look though. But those are just gorgeous!
those are just fabulous!
Thank you for sharing them, they are such fine pieces of craftmanship!
Happy weekend - mine's up

Those are very cool! My husband would love them - he loves Asian art.

it seems as if in two pictures the other one was a child... so maybe it's three people in the story?
