Nito (hubby) bought these Japanese pictures through a deceased estate a few years back in Kuranda. The actual pictures date back to the early 1900's and are made of Mother of Pearl. There is an order and story with the 4 pictures, but unfortunately we are not aware of it.
It is slightly difficult to see, but there are 2 people in the picture - to me it is either husband and wife, or father and daughter.
We do not have them hanging at the moment, but in our new home they will be up on the walls!!

Beautiful! We see lots of mother of pearl inlay here in Malaysia - I love the opalescent contrasting with the dark wood.

I've been seeing more and more Japanese antiques on Antiques Roadshow. They are so fascinating and artistic items. They will be beautiful in your new home!
Those are awesome! I love oriental decors. I remember all the dolls for girls day that I once had when I was very young. I wish I still had them, but I don't know what my Mom did with them. Through all the moves we made, I just don't know.
I see you're going to Disneyland at the end of the year. I am meeting my family in Los Angeles in April and we are taking my grandchildren there. To celebrate all their birthdays at a character breakfast. Then I go back to Hawai'i with them.

Aren't those just MAGNIFICENT? WOW! I loooooove them! I do think it would be fun to decorate a room (or a house) in an oriental style. My hubby doesn't care for the look though. But those are just gorgeous!
