Update on Paul

Well he is now on his way to recovery. On 16 Oct, Paul had his prostate removed. We visited the Dr on Monday to have the staples removed (20 in all, quite a big scar) and he told us he got all the cancer and there are no signs of the cancer having spread anywhere else. So great news. He still needs to get tested every 6 months to make sure it doesn't come back - but that is no problems.

Nervous before the operation:

Tonights Dinner

Most nights it is just Ballerina and myself at home for dinner, as Paul works away and Skaterboy is out and about.

Tonight we enjoyed an easy dinner of crumbed lamb cutlets, fresh corn on the cob, broccoli and cauliflower. Quite yummy.

Now I don't do any advertising on my site, but I bought some Scanpan saucepans the other day and boy are they good. I have used them a few times over the last week to cook a variety of foods and I am very pleased with my purchase!

Nice fresh corn on the cob which we steamed.

Cauliflower and broccoli which we boiled - we usually steam, but boiled tonight!
Lovely crumbed lamb cutlets frying away in the scanpan - no oil used!

Onto the dinner plate!

I probably overcooked the cutlets slighty - getting used to the new scanpan.

However, we both enjoyed the meal.

Now what will we have tomorrow night???

Enjoy your evening.

Lemon Tree

We are now well and truly into Spring and the weather has really warmed up. We are not the best gardeners around, but we are going to give it our best shot this Spring to spruce our fairly new garden up and keep it going. We are also going to try our hand at growing some fruit trees. We have done this in the past with some success. So I have purchased a lemon tree that can be grown in a pot:

Looking very healthy under the pergola.

A new dwarf variety that doesn't use much water - thank goodness as I think we are back on water restrictions next week!

Still looking very healthy - let's hope it stays that way!

We have some flowers so hopefully fruit won't be too far away!

So the first thing I am going to make when we get lemons is........lemonade of course!! You know the saying 'When life hands you lemons - make lemonade'. Well we have been thrown a lemon and lemonade we shall make - just in time for what will be a very hot summer!!

Paul is unaware of my (our) gardening adventures, he returns on Friday. But I'm sure he'll enjoy tending to the gardens as much as I do - hehehe!

Happy weekend to you all

Prostate Cancer

So what do you do when you get told you have Prostate Cancer ?

Reality - you get a lump in your throat and you think the worst, but of course you hope for the best!! My beloved husband, Paul has prostate cancer and of course we got the lump in our throat and thought the worst. However, we are lucky that the cancer has been found early and that Paul is a fit, healthy, young man. We are remaining very positive and know that everything will be fine.

The treatment we have chosen is surgery - surgical removal of the whole prostate is called radical prostatectomy. For some patients it is a very appropriate attempt for a cure. It involves four to five days in hospital and another four to six weeks recuperating at home and has a relatively short treatment and recovery period.

We have a journey ahead of us that we will travel together, we will remain positive and focussed on nothing but getting Paul well!!

We will keep you posted on how everything is going.

Enjoy your day!

Skaterboy gets some Ink!!!

Oh our Skaterboy decided to get a tattoo!! At least it means something!!

He may have ink, but it doesn't change the wonderful son he is!!

A great Family holiday

Well we are back from our Cruise to Fiji, Tonga and New Caledonia. 16 nights of bliss really, great food, great company and a great ship. There were about 1780 passengers, however it didn't really feel like it. Being our 4th cruise we adapted quickly to sea life and settled in to our cabin well. There was lots of exploring to do on the ship which we did, but I still think even by the end of the cruise I was still confused about which end of the ship I was on!!!

Of course we intend to do more cruising in due course as we really love it. Here are some memories of this cruise and we look forward to planning our next one!

More photos later!!
